Almost everyone online should know about RSS Feeds, but have you thought about how it can help you make money online?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and it is a web feed used to publish frequently updated items such as blog posts and news items. If you have an RSS feed reader and you subscribe to a feed for a website, every time that site is updated, you will get the update in the feed reader.

RSS is one of the best things you can get for free on the internet as it can become the foundation of your online blogging and money making efforts. How can it help?

Almost all blogs now provide their RSS Feeds free, as this helps them get regular, dedicated readership. When you subscribe, you will be able to read all these blog posts in your RSS Feed Reader in one place.

You are therefore presented with a steady stream of knowledge from which you can learn, get ideas and references when writing articles for your blog. As long as you have enough feeds, you always have something to write about. Whenever you meet upon a good blog in your niche, subscribe to the feed.

Please note that I said “get ideas and references”. Please don’t copy other people’s work word for word. Try to make your articles as original as possible so as to respect the other person’s work and to make your post rank high in the search engine rankings. Search engines penalise you for duplicate content. Sometimes I just read one sentence and then, Eureka! I write a blog post from the idea I get from that one sentence.

There are two very popular RSS Feed Readers, Bloglines and Google Reader. There are several more, but I prefer Bloglines. I use it to organize feeds including those from my Blog Catalog groups. As soon as someone posts to a group, I am alerted quickly so I make the first post and get extra visits for being the only post (for a while at least).

On the other hand, when people subscribe to your feed, you are building a community of regular readers and that will do so many positives to your blog, it is will have to be looked at in a subsequent post.

The wonderful thing about the web is that there are so many legitimate money making opportunities, there is space for everyone to make money online. If you are strapped for cash and need to make money fast, there are several ways you can get that money.

Cash Crate is another of the many ways you can earn extra money online. Cash Crate is a site that provides multiple ways for you to earn income online. It is free to join and it is simple to sign up. This is a short review of my experiences making money with Cash Crate.

Sign Up
After signing up, you are taken to the members area where you will be presented with some offers for you to immediately make money.  You simply get paid for taking surveys, joining free websites, signing up for websites, downloading software, etc.

Cost
Not everything is free however as some offers have a cost, but you are paid a premium above the cost so you can immediately know your profit.

Forum
The forum is very important as that is where you will see offers posted. Paying close attention to the forum can enable you to make a good profit for your time.

Referral
The best thing  about Cash Crate is its referral system. The referral program has two levels. You get paid 20% of what your direct referrals make and 10% of what THEIR referrals make. However, because of the tier structure, you cannot refer yourself.

If you use a blog in your online money making campaign, then you should know how important it is to build links. Linking allows your blog to gain recognition from the search engines, allowing your posts to list high in search results and get more traffic. It is similar to daily life where the more popular person generally gets more recognition and respect.

I came across a quick link building network while browsing on Blog Catalog. It is called Zeriouz Partner Referral Network and it is a simple 3 step process that gets you to build links easily.

All you have to do is enter your domain into the homepage. Then you will be taken to step 2 which allows you to check your referrers and make sure they are following the rules. Once you’ve moderated your referrers,  you will be at step 3 which is the page that contains your link code. Simply cut and paste that link code into the homepage of your website. Then, each time someone clicks: “Add Your Link” (from your website), they will join zeriouz as your own personal referral. Then, your link will appear on the homepage of ‘their website’.

Here is the beauty of this link referral network. If you refer 10 people, your link will already be on 10 websites. Once those people refer 10 people, and the people they refer also refer 10 people — all the way through five levels, your website URL will appear on the homepage of 100,000 websites. One link is precious. Imagine getting tens of thousands of links!

An eBay BANS Site is one of the easiest ways to start an online web store. It allows you to choose a niche and harness the vast volume of eBay items up for auction. You get to sell other people’s auction items without having to lift a straw. As a result of this it became a huge hit with people putting up tens and hundreds of sites in no time.

Actually, eBay started shooting itself in the foot by taking away the approval process for BANS Sites from Clickbank early in 2008 and started doing its own approval. The result: many people who already had BANS stores did not get approval and many others who wanted to get on the “BANS” wagon (including me) were disapproved for no stated reason.

Now I am glad I was disapproved as Google is now de-indexing BANS sites. Maybe I would have been one of those with over 100 sites. Who knows?

Knowing Google (and we can never know her too well), it seems the “spammy” nature of some BANS Sites may be one of the factors causing Google to de-index eBay BANS Sites. Google loves content, so having to deal with thousands of BANS sites with little or no content must be difficult for Google to tolerate, hence the de-indexing.

If you intend to build an eBay BANS site or you have not yet been de-indexed, try adding content to your site. This is ‘food’ to the search engines and as long as you keep feeding them, they won’t ‘bite’.

Alternative to eBay BANS Store

In the meantime,Datafeedr is ahead of the game with their Datafeedr Stores that allow you to sell items from popular Affiliate Networks (such as Commision Junction, Link Share, Share A Sale and several others) utilising WordPress. Google (and other search engines) love WordPress blogging software, so your stores will be ranked as high as the blogs, as long as you have great content. Datafeedr has a ‘drip’ feature that automatically makes blog posts (at preset intervals) from the merchant’s descriptions so you don’t have to dedicate yourself to blogging for your store.

Adding content to an eBay BANS store is a bit more laborious than using automated Datafeedr. However it is still possible to have a successful BANS site if you are willing to work at it.

After actually writing your blog, the problem is getting  people to read it. How you promote  your blog can mean the difference between getting less than 100 visits per day and thousands of visits per day. I will just mention one such tool  to increase your blog traffic.

Blog Explosion is free to join and allows you to expose your blog to a large community of bloggers. It is basically a traffic exchange just for blogs. You visit other blogs and get credits and in return you receive visits to your blog. You receive extra credit for referrals, but you cannot refer yourself. Apart from driving in more traffic and increasing your ability to earn money online, these visits could result in people adding you to their Blogroll or subscribing to your RSS feed or Opt-in list.

There is a newly updated feature at Blog Explosion that makes it even more worthwhile to join. Ping My Blog allows you to have your blog updated on every search engine with just one click. You can ping your blog every time you make a post.

You can also meet and chat with other members in the Shoutbox, join their forum, play games, get Blog Explosion’s free RSS Blog Reader, free Blog Counter and Free image hosting.

Blog Explosion is a great way to increase traffic to your blog. It can cause dramatic increases in visits to your blog as long as you are willing to visit other blogs.

Here is the scenario: An interested visitor who has been strolling through your site has finally come to just what he  is looking for and is about to buy your product. It’s a sunny afternoon, and his cat, who happens to be sitting on the moss under the visitor’s large fifty-year-old snow-rose bonsai tree, suddenly jumps down, and the priceless tree topples over.

In the blink of an eye, your visitor leave your site, and your sale is dust - unless you have had the foresight to utilize an Autoresponder System that has gathered her email address. If you have installed an autoresponder, you can then follow-up with her, and most probably, make the sale when the poor woman has finished reporting her precious bonsai.

Autoresponders are versatile programs that do so much more than just automatically answer your email. Here are a few ideas that will help you to creatively and productively use your autoresponder to transform the casual visitor into a profitable customer. Use your autoresponder to:

1. Publish an e-zine. Certain quality autoresponders will manage subscriptions and follow-up with interested prospects. Your e-zine can keep your visitors informed about your services or products, while building your reputation as an authoritative in your particular business.

2. Publish a newsletter only for your affiliates. Inform them of current sales you are running and of promotional material that your affiliates can use themselves to increase their earnings. Include tips, advice, and techniques that your affiliates can use to successfully go out and promote your product.

3. Write reviews. Cover books, software, music, e-books, movies, etc., and put each review in an autoresponder. Review your affiliate programs, using a link to your affiliate’s page in your autoresponder.

4. Distribute your articles. Writing and distributing targeted articles is a powerful tool to build your business credibility, bring visitors to your site, and increase your sales potential. If your articles contain helpful information, many editors will print what is known as a resource box for you. A resource box contains your bio and a brief description of your service or product. It can also contain your autoresponder address. Let’s say you’ve written fifty articles. Put them on separate autoresponder accounts and create a master list that contains the titles of each article, the autoresponder address, and a brief abstract. Then promote your master list. Additionally, include your publishing guidelines so your affiliates can add their articles to your list, increasing the number of writers who are represented in your article list.

5. Create opt-in lists. Inform subscribers to your articles when you’ve written new ones that they may want to publish in their own newsletter or website.

6. Automate your sales process. Use an ad to insure repeated exposure of your message, which has been proven to effectively increase sales. In your ad, put your autoresponder address where a visitor will be exposed to numerous marketing materials. This multiplies the chances of converting visitors into customers. For example, if you’re selling a particular product, put testimonials about how spectacular it is on your autoresponder, and add a detailed, enticing description of your product.

7. Distribute advertising. Let’s say you sell advertising on your website or in your newsletter or e-zine. Set your autoresponder to send the information about rates and how to place an ad automatically to all prospects’ email addresses. Then have your autoresponder follow-up. It can also send notification of any special deals you are
currently offering.

8. Distribute an email course. Each day, have your autoresponder send out another lesson. Just be sure that each lesson has quality content - not a sales pitch. Your content will do the selling for you, and will do it much more effectively. You can include tips centered on a different topic for each lesson, illustrating how your product will benefit the reader. Include the tangible benefits the visitor will reap by purchasing your product. Make sure to include a paragraph or two at the end of each lesson enticing your prospect to consider making a purchase.

9. Automate a reminder about your service or product after a visitor has completed your course. This will increase the possibility of sales from visitors who have taken your course but are dragging their feet about actually making a purchase. You can also use these reminders to promote new products or services, and the products and services of your affiliate programs.

10. Distribute free reports. This gives your visitor an idea of the type of information you can provide and the quality of your product or service. Make sure these reports are not sales letters or you will more than likely lose a potential customer than gain a sale.

11. Create trivia quizzes on your site and place the answers in an autoresponder. Your visitor will then be motivated to request your autoresponder, and you will have a record of the visitors’ email addresses who took your quiz. Or create a contest and have any visitors that enter send their responses to your autoresponder. Your autoresponder can be set-up to send them a confirmation of their entry.

12. Offer a beta version of your product. Give your prospects a sample of your ebook, course, software, membership, etc. People who are exposed to a little taste often end up wanting the whole pie. You can also capture their email addresses when you offer them a free trial from your website. Set up your autoresponder to give instructions on how to obtain their free trial, and then make sure to follow-up to try and close the sale.

13. Link to hidden pages on your autoresponder. For example, a hidden page could be your affiliate page that contains graphics, promotional articles, and text links that interested affiliates can make use of. Inform visitors that they may have free access to your affiliate page by simply requesting your autoresponder. You will then gather a list of visitors who may be interested in becoming your affiliates.

14. Use an autoresponder on your order page. Post a request form for visitors to be notified of special offers or discounts in the future. This creates a very effective mailing list that contains the names of people who are already your customers.

15. Put your links page on your autoresponder. It should contain up to fifty links that would be of particular interest to your visitors. Make sure to add your own promotional copy at the top or bottom of this page.

Click Bank is the number one affiliate network for selling digital products online. This is where I started marketing online and is more often than not, the first place most people start making money online.

Clickbank however, has 2 major drawbacks: there is no search feature (to easily search for specific products) and Clickbank does not accept Paypal so you can get paid quickly online.

PayDotCom.com is a Clickbank alternative that has a similar interface to Clickbank’s and carries similar digital products,  but has a great search feature along with the ability to make payments through Paypal.
